Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort Top Ten Tips

1- This resort is One of a kind!- Appreciate the history of your resort as Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort was built and opened simultaneously with Disney’s Magic Kingdom in 1971!  With awe inspiring views of Magic Kingdom, tropical and luxurious rooms as well as incredible resort amenities this resort is a true Walt Disney World icon. The resort was even inspired by Walt Disney’s travels to some of his favorite tropical destinations!

2- Utilize the Monorail– Besides being the most convenient way to get around much of Walt Disney World – consider the Monorail as another attraction.  Your little ones will want to ride again and again!

3- Pool Time- Schedule a resort pool day! There is so much to do poolside at your resort. Did we mention that the Lava Pool has a view of Cinderella’s Castle?!  Fun poolside offerings include themed pool games, relays, trivia and more! You can even relax in your own private shaded area close to the pool—complete with cushioned lounge chairs, towels and more. Oasis Patios accommodate up to 6 Guests and are available for rent on a first-come, first-served basis.  You can find more information here!

4- Electrical Water Pageant  – Add some twinkling charm to each evening of your stay during a delightful nighttime water parade!  Glimmering along the shoreline of this Resort hotel destination, the Electrical Water Pageant gives Guests of all ages the chance to marvel at spectacular sights and sounds as sparkling sea creatures cruise the lagoon to electronic Disney tunes you know and love.  Best of all, as the show reaches its patriotic conclusion, you can marvel cozily from the comfort of this Resort hotel’s own magical viewing place!  Be sure to check with your Resort front desk for showtimes on the day of your visit. Since this is an outdoor show, it is subject to cancellation due to inclement weather.

5- Watch the Fireworks!– If you are lucky enough to have a theme park view, you’ll have a great private fireworks show form your  room every evening.  However, don’t stress if you don’t as there are several great spots to check out the fireworks around your resort.  My Personal favorite is from the white sand beaches.

6- Rent a boat– Whether you have a need for speed or crave a relaxing excursion, Disney has the boat for you! Cast off with your crew—enjoying theme park views and natural surroundings as you cruise Disney’s Seven Sea Lagoon.  Sun Tracker Pontoon boats seat up to 10 Guests and run $45 per half-hour.  These cannot be booked in advance and are reserved on a first come, first served basis.

7- Dining – With many dining options at your resort, you hardly have a need to leave to dine! However, with the use of the Monorail, you ca easily jump over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort and Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa, or even Magic Kingdom (with a valid theme park ticket) for even more easily accessible restaurants!

8- Your resort has a bunch of unique features you will only find here! Upon arrival to your resort lobby, you’ll be greeted by a cast member with a lei. These beautiful flower garlands truly set the tone for your stay at this tropical paradise! There’s also lot of fun Hidden Mickeys throughout your resort. Ask a cast member to show you some! My favorite- as soon as you walk in to your lobby look down at the ground- there’s a large hidden Mickey built in to the flooring.

9- I have to add a special nod to your resorts’ Club Level amenities and use of King Kamehameha Club Lounge. If you’ve booked a club level room, you’re in for unparalleled luxury and magic.

You should receive a phone call a few days before your departure from Disney’s Signature Services team to ask if there is anything they can do to ready themselves for your arrival.

This isn’t a resort specific tip, but I’d be remis to not mention this general Disney resort guest tip every chance I get!

10- Early Theme Park Entry

Early Entry can be a great way to enjoy the theme parks with lower crowds. Guests staying at Disney Resort hotels and select other hotels can take advantage of a 30-minute early entry into Walt Disney World theme parks every day. Please note, not all Walt Disney World attractions are available during early theme park entry. Early theme park entry schedule and available attractions are subject to change without notice.

Guests of deluxe resorts are also privy to some special evening hours in the theme park!
