Epcot Mexico Pavilion

Epcot’s Mexico Pavilion

Located between the World Showcase entrance and the Norway Pavilion, the Mexico Pavilion in Epcot’s World Showcase features beautiful architecture in the style of a traditional Mexican hacienda with many different cultural exhibits, authentic Mexican cuisine and art, Mexican themed shopping area, and even a ride!

The interior of the pavilion, Plaza de los Amigos, is inspired by the real town of Taxco, Mexico.  Taxco boasts many marketplaces and town squares similar to the Pavilion.  Even the fountain inside the plaza, which is called Fuente del Chorrito or “trickle fountain,” was modeled after the Colonial Fountain in the town’s Plaza Colonial.

As a lot of the Mexico Pavilion is indoors and air conditioned, it is the perfect spot to cool down or escape any Orlando rain!

The landscaping at the Mexico pavilion represents two regions of Mexico: the jungle and the desert.  Epcot gardeners put ion a lot of work to make the landscaping look unmaintained, as if it were a genuine environment of Mexico.  You will find plants and flowers typical of the jungle as well as several varieties of palm trees.  One of the most notable plants in this area is the floss silk tree that is located near the steps to the left of the temple. These showy trees present springtime blossoms and, in other seasons, boast irregular shaped fruit hanging from its branches.
