Doing Disney With Food Allergies

Living with food allergies is hard. Even harder is traveling with them. Thankfully, Disney knows and understands these difficulties and goes above and beyond to keep you or your loved ones safe and happy during your trip!

Starting before you even leave home, you can speak with a Special Diets representative to voice your needs and concerns and have everything put on file attached to your reservation. When you arrive at your table service meals, your allergies will be noted by your name and acknowledged right at the check in podium.

From there, you will be visited at your table by the head chef who will talk you through your likes and options and your meal will be prepared by them and designated with special toothpicks when they arrive at your table.

Heading to a buffet? The chef will walk you through the dishes, pointing out what is and is not safe for you and there will even be a special menu for you to carry that shows which top 8 allergens are and are not included in each dish.

Of course, your chefs will not want any allergic diners to miss out on the best part- dessert! There will always be a selection of safe treats to choose from!

Not sitting down to eat? No worries!  All quick service and kiosk locations have a binder you can request looking through before ordering.  These binders will give you full ingredient and often cross contamination information on whatever is being served.

The attention to special diets doesn’t stop there!  At various locations throughout Walt Disney World, you can find snacks made by well known allergy brands like Enjoy Life and Surf Sweets! Many of these snacks have wrappers printed with beloved Disney characters, making the experience as fun for those with limitations as those without!

Walt Disney World has an amazing commitment to guest satisfaction and their attention to serving the allergy community is no exception!

As a mama to a child with multiple food allergies, I understand the worry and stress travel can bring.  I would love to help you take that weight off your shoulders and feel prepared and confident that you or your child will not only be safe, but have a magical time as well!  From safe trick or treating on Main Street to a bakery that serves only allergy friendly desserts, no matter your vacation plans, no one will be left out of the fun!

Right in the middle of Disney Springs, individuals with food allergies or special diets can find a fun treat, just for them! Erin McKenna’s, a vegan, kosher and gluten free bakery boasts a delicious menu of donuts, cupcakes, brownies, cookies and even soft serve! It is so rare for someone living with allergies to walk into a bakery and choose whatever they want from the case but Erin McKenna’s hopes to make this possible for some!

You can also find these tempting snacks at select locations throughout the parks and resorts including The Beach Club, The Boardwalk Bakery, The Mara at Animal Kingdom Lodge, The Gardens Kiosk at Animal Kingdom Park, Art of Animation Resort and Pop Century Resort.

Celebrating someone special during one of your dining reservations? Erin McKenna’s can deliver specialty cakes to almost any table service location on property! Simply call one week in advance and you’re on your way to a safe and memory making celebration!

One thing to keep in mind, this bakery uses Bob’s Red Mill flour in all their baked goods, which is a cross contamination concern for some. Be sure to research what’s best for you or your loved one before making a special trip!
