Retreat to this ultra-modern Disney Resort hotel and discover award-winning dining, spectacular views and dazzling pools. Whether you’re staying in the iconic A-frame Contemporary tower or the nearby Garden Wing, you can walk to Magic Kingdom main gate or catch the Resort Monorail as it breezes through the tower. Inside, a 90-foot-tall mural by Disney Legend Mary Blair—responsible for the distinct look and feel of the “it’s a small world” attraction—celebrates the Grand Canyon and the American Southwest.

Know Before You Go

  • Transportation: The major advantage of Contemporary is that is a short walk to Walt Disney World’s flagship theme park, Magic Kingdom. If you don’t want to make the 10 minute walk you can also take a Monorail, which has a station in the Contemporary’s lobby. The same Monorail can be also be used to ride to the Transportation And Ticket Center, here guests can transfer to another Monorail and ride to the front gate of Epcot. There is bus transportation to the remaining theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs.
  • Check-in time 3:00 PM, Check-out time 11:00 AM. 
  • Location: Disney’s Contemporary Resort is in the Magic Kingdom resort area between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom. It’s about a 10 minute walk to Magic Kingdom.
  • Laundry facilities– Cost is $3 per wash, and another $3 per dry cycle. The machines take credit cards. A small selection of soap, fabric softener, and dryer sheets are also sold, for around $1 each. A typical wash cycle takes 20 to 30 minutes, and a typical dry cycle takes 40 to 50 minutes.

Rooms at Disney’s Contemporary Resort fall into the upper end of all the other WDW deluxe resorts.

CLUB LEVEL

The concierge level of a deluxe resort can also be referred to as club level. At Disney’s Contemporary Resort, there are two located opn the 12th and 14th floor. Here guests are treated to special services including a lounge with complimentary food and drink daily, and VIP service. There are about 60 Atrium Club rooms most of which are similar to regular rooms throughout the resort, but there are also suites available.

Upon arriving to Contemporary, concierge guests are taken to an exclusive area to be checked in and taken care of. Once guests are brought to the club level they will be introduced to the cast members on hand at two desks set up to be the resource for any special services they may need such as park tickets or dining.

A great benefit to staying Club Level is access to free food and drink for most of the day. There are several tables and chairs, couches, and kids have their own area here with child sized table and chairs and a TV playing Disney cartoons.

  • Deluxe Studios (sleep up to 4 adults)
  • 1-, 2- and 3-Bedroom Villas (sleep up to 12 adults)

  • A private porch or balcony (3-Bedroom Grand Villas only)

Deluxe Studios feature:

  • A kitchenette, so you can prepare meals and snacks from the comfort of your studio
  • A sleeper sofa, in addition to one queen bed

In terms of room size, Contemporary’s rooms are in the upper end of Disney’s other deluxe resorts. At 394 square feet they are smaller than Grand Floridian’s 440 sf, and Polynesian’s 415 sf, but larger than rooms in every other resort.

Each Disney’s Contemporary Resort room is furnished with the following:

  • Steakhouse 71 and Steakhouse 71 Lounge -Step back in time to savor classic cocktails and cuisine—with a modern twist—in a nostalgic setting inspired by the early days of Walt Disney World Resort.
  • California Grill – Treat yourself to an award-winning culinary experience and an epic vantage point for dinner.
  • Chef Mickey’s – Prepare for an all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast or dinner feast at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for this character dining experience.

Pools

2 pools conveniently located along the shore of Bay Lake.

Glide down the 17-foot-high, curving waterslide at the main pool, or relax in one of 2 whirlpool spas. Children can even make a splash in the water playground designed just for kids!

You can also escape to Bay Pool—the all-ages quiet pool that juts out over Bay Lake. Soak up the sun from a lounge chair on the deck, or rent a private cabana for added luxury.

TIP- This pool is a zero entry pool for little ones and ease of access for all in getting in!!

  • Cabana Rentals – Kick back in luxury beside the Bay Pool as you unwind in your very own private cabana.
  • Electrical Water Pageant : Add some twinkling charm to each evening of your stay during a delightful nighttime water parade! Glimmering along the shoreline of this Resort hotel destination, the Electrical Water Pageant gives Guests of all ages the chance to marvel at spectacular sights and sounds as sparkling sea creatures—both grand in size and epic in scope—cruise the lagoon to electronic Disney tunes you know and love.
  • Movies Under the Stars – Join us for complimentary screenings of favorite Disney films. Located on the lawn by Contemporary Courtyard 8:00pm Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday
  • Campfires- Cozy up for complimentary outdoor screenings at the Courtyard Campfire pit at 6pm seven days a week.
  • Motorized Boat Rentals – Cruise around Bay Lake and Seven Seas Lagoon aboard a motorized boat from the Boat Nook Marina.
  • Guided Fishing Excursions : Whether you’re a seasoned sportsman or an amateur angler, a guided fishing excursion is fun for Guests of all ages. Reservations are highly recommended and can be made by calling (407) 939-FISH or (407) 939-3474. Choose from Guided Bass Fishing Excursions, which includes a 21-foot Sun Tracker pontoon boat that can accommodate up to 5 Guests, and a tournament-style NITRO® bass fishing boat for up to 3 Guests. Both 2-hour and 4-hour excursions are offered, and if available, an extra hour may be added in person at the Marina. Solo anglers may book an afternoon excursion at a reduced rate. All Walt Disney World Resort fishing excursions include: An experienced guide, Rod and reel, Tackle, Artificial and/or live bait (NITRO boats will not offer live bait,) Non-alcoholic beverages only (Guests may not bring alcoholic beverages aboard.)
  • Jogging Trail –A jogging path loops around Bay Lake Tower and the South Garden Wing for a just-under-1-mile jaunt.
  • Volleyball- Enjoy a friendly beach volleyball match on the lakeside court.
  • Tennis- Hit the courts! Complimentary tennis racquets and balls are available at the Community Hall at Bay Lake Tower.
  • The Game Station is back and even better than before! Discover high-octane thrills in this arcade located on the 4th floor of the Contemporary Tower.

Every Tuesday and Thursday, Yoga is available 7:00 to 7:30 AM at Village Green! Participation is free but limited to the first 20 Guests. Mats and towels are provided. Make sure to check at your front desk at schedules are subject to change.
