Whether the drink package is “worth it,” depends on two main factors — how much you plan to drink and how much the package costs on your cruise as it can vary greatly depending on your cruise.
Keep in mind, in general, all adults 21-and-over sailing in the same cabin must get the premium package if anyone in the room opts to get it. You can, however, call the cruise line with a reason why someone in the room won’t be getting the premium package; that person will still have to purchase a Refreshment Package.
You don’t have to drink liquor heavily for the price of those drinks to add up quickly. Here’s an example of a typical cruise day, purchased a la carte you would have spent $101 on drinks:
- 8 a.m. Mimosa at the Windjammer buffet $10
- 9 a.m. Cappuccino at Cafe Promenade $6
- 12 p.m. Soda with lunch $4
- 1:30 p.m. Bottle of water at the pool $3
- 3 p.m. Beer at Lime & Coconut by the pool $7
- 4 p.m. Bottle of water at the pool $3
- 5 p.m. Mixed drink at the Bionic Bar $13
- 7 p.m. Wine with dinner $10
- 9 p.m. Mixed drink in the theater $13
- 9:30 Bottle of water at Bolero’s $3
- 10 p.m. Mixed drink at Playmakers $13
- 11 p.m. Bottle of water at Cafe Promenade $3
In general, anyone who may have 3-5 alcoholic beverages in a day, a deluxe coffee, a juice, a few bottles of water, and even a milkshake, then even at the higher per-day prices, buying a drink package is generally worth it. There’s also the piece of mind of the all inclusive feel of not worrying about the price of every drink you purchase. The Deluxe Beverage Package lets you focus on your vacation.
