Disney After Hours Boo Bash

Disney After Hours Boo Bash is currently replacing Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Magic Kingdom, at least for this year. Disney has not announced which after hours event will be taking place next year.

As per Disney on the basics of this spook-tacular event-

“Disney After Hours Boo Bash will take place on select nights from August 10 through October 31. Ticket holders will be admitted to Magic Kingdom park as early as 7:00 PM on the valid date of their ticket—giving them even more time to enjoy park favorites before the event begins! These dated tickets do not require an additional day theme park ticket or Disney Park Pass theme park reservation.

Admission to Disney After Hours Boo Bash can be purchased online for $129 to $199 per adult or child (plus tax), depending on the event date. Annual Passholders and Disney Vacation Club Members can take advantage of a $10 discount on event dates in August and September.

Tickets are nontransferable and nonrefundable. The number of tickets available is limited. Tickets are valid only during specific event dates and hours. Prices, entertainment, attractions, experiences, ticket types, entitlements and other event elements subject to availability, closures and change or cancellation without notice or liability.”

If you have only purchased an event ticket, you can enter Magic Kingdom at 7pm.  Look for the “Event Entrance” and scan your ticket, Magic Band, or phone (as long as you have linked your ticket to your MyDisneyExperience account.)  After entering you will receive your Boo Bash bracelet.

The official event does not begin until 9pm (Some nights are 9:30PM-12:30AM, but most are 9PM-12AM.)  Park guests that have been there throughout the day will be kindly asked to leave once the event starts by cast members should they not have a Boo Bash bracelet on indicating they have access to the spooky fun.

Here’s the full event lineup via the guide map below.  You will notice limited event exclusive food and beverage offerings are available, but no exclusive merchandise.

Magic Kingdom After Hours Boo Bash

Magic Kingdom features very little that closes before 7pm, so you can experience almost the entire attraction lineup with an After Hours ticket. The Disney After Hours BOO BASH ticket also gives you the chance to experience the Happily Ever After Fireworks during some event nights before it comes to an end in September.  Guests will most likely get to see Disney Enchantment on October dates.

The park was pretty light the night we visited and we were able to enjoy a plethora of popular rides with almost no wait- Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted Mansion, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin.

That being said, we did do several rides during the fireworks to make the best use of our time. The special entertainment during the event also seemed to pull crowds away from rides, leading most headlining attractions to be at minimal waits during the event.

Trick-or-Treat trails return, but many are inside, so guests are asked to put masks on to go in them.  Invest in a good lanyard (or skirt with pockets!) as you’ll be taking your masks on and off again often.

There are also lots of allergy friendly options.

Carried over from the Halloween parties are the Trick-or-Treat locations, DJ Dance Party, the Cadaver Dans, some character appearances (albeit distanced), Disney PhotoPass opportunities, and special music and lighting around the park.

Locate this spooky overlay at the entrance to Tomorrowland!

Coming over from Disney After Hours are the Snack Carts with ice cream bars, popcorn, and bottled beverages included with your admission, as well as the character cavalcades (technically introduced at Villains After Hours pre-COVID), and the shorter waits at attractions.

Included in the admission are complimentary snacks: popcorn, Mickey Ice Cream bars, fruit bars, and the Mickey ice cream sandwich. Complimentary bottled beverages include Dasani water, Coke, Diet Coke, and Sprite.

If you are hungry or thirsty and this doesn’t fit your needs, Main Street Bakery, Main Street U.S.A. snack cart, Golden Oak Outpost, Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, Storybook Treats, Auntie Gravity’s Galactic Goodies, & Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea Company “Revive” are all open throughout the exclusive hours.

Me- Why you would buy a ton of snack items when the complimentary offerings are available for free?

Also me- Buys a Maleficient Churro, a churro covered in chocolate cookie crumbles, drizzled with purple icing and then topped with green and purple sprinkles. Well worth the purchase, delicious!

There are Special PhotoPass opportunities around the park.  (My favorite was the ship in a bottle found by the Pirates of the Caribbean entrance.)

Let’s talk about the special entertainment to be found during your Boo Bash experience!

The Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet

The Dapper Dans become the Cadaver Dans for Halloween four times each night. They also perform on the rooftops of Frontierland near the Country Bear Jamboree.  So much fun to see!

Character Sightings

There are 5 locations where you will find some fun characters!

1. At Pirates of the Caribbean- Pirate Goofy

2. Frontierland, by the Country Bear Jamboree- Chip and Dale are out every so often as a pirate and a vampire.

3. The Haunted Mansion -three residents of Gracey Manor receive guests: Miss Carlotta, Miss Renatta, and their faithful servant, Broome the Butler.

4. Pinocchio Village Haus- Foulfellow and Gideon

5. Crystal Palace- The Pooh characters in their Halloween costumes

There are several parades throughout the night.  Check your times guide for exact times—best spot to view the parades is up at the base of Splash Mountain, but you can pretty much find a good spot anywhere you may be at. If you’re not checking your guide for time, listen closely when you’re in the parade route vicinity- when you hear loud music, a parade is headed your way!

Mickey’s Happy Halloween Cavalcade

Mickey Mouse and friends are dressed up and ready to celebrate Halloween.

Disney Villains Halloween Cavalcade

The villains float is carrying Dr. Facilier, Jafar, and the Wicked Queen. Captain Hook, the Queen of Hearts, the Big Bad Wolf, and Bowler Hat Guy walk in front of this procession.

Jack’s Nightmare Cavalcade

The Nightmare Before Christmas characters aboard a float.

Maleficent’s Fiery Prowl

Returning from Disney Villains After Hours is the Maleficent unit formerly from the Festival of Fantasy Parade.

It is accompanied by the ravens and vines characters that walked with it in the daytime parade.

Should You Attend “Disney Villains After Hours” at the Magic Kingdom?

So, is Disney After Hours BOO BASH worth it?

It is a VIP experience at a price point that doesn’t require as much capital as a VIP tour or something of the like.

Low wait times, free snacks and drinks, tons of candy; including allergy friendly options and an overall difference ambiance make this event a must do for adults without children and families with pre-teens and teenagers.

Families with younger children may not find it enjoyable because of the late hours.

Happy Halloween!

What are two of my favorite things to do right now in Magic Kingdom? Make sure to check out the new Hall of Presidents, which has recently added the new 46th president, Joe Biden-

and of course Cinderella’s Royal Table never disappoints!
