6 Tips for an Easier Work Week

Now I am a girl who loves to plan!! I know huge shock there lol. This is my number one reason I love being a travel agent! I’m someone who is motivated by to-do lists, checklists, planners – anything of that nature. While a lot of people are like me in this way, a lot of other people just don’t understand what’s so appealing about planning.

So, I’ve put together a list of things that I do every Sunday in order set myself up for an easier week and start my Monday off motivated and refreshed. Let me tell ya, this list of little things seriously does make a big difference, in terms of helping me have a more productive, less stressful, and more organized week. The simple task of just crossing off those items on my ‘to-do’ list is a huge feeling of accomplishment for me.

  1. Every Sunday is Chore Day!

If you have been following my blogs, then you are aware that I have two boys almost both in teenage years. I have come up with lists of unpaid and paid chores for them to complete each week. On Sundays the list must be complete. Here we set up the house, so it is clean and in order for the week. Just going to bed on Sundays with a clean house helps my psych and mood for the week.

  • Meal Plan/Prep

On Sunday’s we usually do our grocery shopping for the week. My husband and I usually will sit down Saturday evening or early Sunday morning and plan our meals for the week. We divide the cooking throughout the week because I do have another job 3-days a week which has me coming home late in the evening. We set up our grocery list based on our meals for the week, so there is less though going into what we are having each night for dinner! (I don’t know about you, but when we must decide on the spot NO ONE CAN DECIDE lol).

  • Choose our Outfits for the Week

This is more for my children, especially during the school year. I like to make sure they have washed and put away their clothes that is there responsibility. By having them decide what they are going to wear for the week they are more inclined to see if they missed any laundry. This also makes for easier mornings out if the house.

  • Make My Lists!!! (my favorite part of the day)

Through out the day I start to compile my thoughts and a list. Once a get a few minutes to myself I will sit down and write it out. There is just something about the pen to the paper that really motivated me to complete it. Once it its written I then input any information into my planner and onto my calendar. I also have a weekly planner organizer so that I can see the week in a snapshot. I know some people are like “OK Lady that’s overkill!!!” lol but honestly, it’s what works for me.

  • Spend time with my Family!!

Life is super busy for most of us, and it’s hard to find tons of time to connect with people face-to-face sometimes. But life is way too short to take our friends and family for granted. So, it’s a good idea to dedicate at least one day a week to spending time with the people we love most. My family has dinner every Sunday together and we try to watch some type of TV show. In my house we are usually watching some YouTube video on Disney or a documentary on Walt Disney himself. Disney is a huge bonder for my family, and we all look forward to taking advantage of that time.

  • Practice Gratitude

This is actually something new that I am going to start into my routine. Someone very dear to me always sees the positive and is very inspiring to me as a professional, colleague, and friend. She has inspired me to be more aware on the positive in my life and wean out the negatives. So, I have decided to start a gratitude jar every Sunday. I know not everyone wants to do that, but this is something that I think will work for my family. This will help us keep our spirits high, keep us in a positive mindset, and help us be more mindful. Just try to write out one thing each week you are grateful for and then once a month sit down and discuss them as a family. I feel this will also help your family reconnect to see how the things in your life are making an impact on the rest.

Thank you for reading my blogs and following along on my journeys. As a wife, mother of 2 boys, a working mom and BUSY travel agent, I hope this helps you in preparing for a easier week ahead.
